Global Talent Stream

We are pleased to offer our clients assistance with the Global Talent Stream (GTS) program, which is a fast-track option for highly skilled foreign workers to come to Canada.

GTS is a program that allows Canadian employers to hire highly skilled foreign workers in certain job categories and with specific skill codes, known as NOC codes. These job categories and skill codes are considered to be in high demand in Canada and are considered to be part of the “global talent” category.

The main job categories and NOC codes that are considered under the GTS stream include:

  • Information and communications technology (NOC code 2173)
  • Business, finance, and management (NOC code 0111)
  • Natural and applied sciences (NOC code 2121)

To be eligible for the GTS program, foreign workers must meet certain requirements, including:

  • Having a job offer from a Canadian employer that is in one of the eligible job categories and NOC codes
  • Having at least two years of experience in the relevant field
  • Having a valid work permit

In order to hire a foreign worker through the GTS program, Canadian employers must first apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). This process involves demonstrating that there is a need for the foreign worker in the Canadian labour market and that no Canadian citizens or permanent residents are available to fill the position.

Once a LMIA is issued, the foreign worker can apply for a work permit and start working in Canada. Additionally, having a LMIA and a work permit through the GTS program can also increase a candidate’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, which can eventually lead to a permanent residence (PR) in Canada.

If you have any questions about the GTS program or the LMIA process, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help guide you through the process and ensure that you have the best chance of success
